A recent report in the Houston Business Journal by Kent Hoover provided some startling and somewhat concerning information about women owned businesses. (See Washington Report [page 12A] Houston Business Journal Week of July 30 – August 5, 2010).
The article pointed out that although women-owned businesses make up 29% of all U.S. businesses, they account for less than 4% of revenue-based market share.
Between 1997 and 2007 women-owned business the number of women-owned business grew by 29% and while the revenue-based market share decreased by 10%.
